अन्ध-विश्वास के साथ मेरी जंग : कुछ अनुभव -11

कुछ वर्षो पहले मै छत्तीसगढ की प्रसिद्ध केशकाल घाटी क्षेत्र मे चिडियो की विविधता पर जानकारी एकत्र कर रहा था। मै पिछले दस से अधिक वर्षो से इस घाटी मे चिडियो पर शोध करने जाता रहा हूँ। शुरु मे मुझे सडक के किनारे स्थित पेडो मे नाना प्रकार की चिडिया मिल जाती थी। पर अब जंगल मे काफी अन्दर तक जाना पडता है। इसके लिये बहुत से कारण उत्तरदायी है। इनमे से घाटी मे लगातार बढता ट्रेफिक भी एक है। पहले एक ट्रक घाटी से गुजरता था और फिर लम्बे समय तक खामोशी छायी रहती थी। अब यह शोर दिन हो या रात थमने का नाम ही नही लेता। तेज हार्न चिडियो के लिये बहुत मुश्किल पैदा कर रहे है। घाटी मे वैसे ही हार्न का अधिकता से प्रयोग जरुरी होता है। ऊपर से हर मन्दिर के सामने ड्रायवर द्वारा हार्न बजाने का जो दौर चला है उससे भी बहुत ज्यादा शोर पैदा हो रहा है।
मन्दिर चाहे छोटा हो या बडा हर गाडी बिना हार्न बजाये नही गुजरेगी। मेरा ड्रायवर कुछ ज्यादा ही आस्थावान है। वह चर्च और मस्जिद के आगे भी हार्न बजाता है। हाँ, मन्दिरो के सामने एक नही तीन बार हार्न बजाता है। जब हम शहरो से गुजरते है तो इस हार्न की ध्वनि से त्रस्त हो जाते है। जंगल मे भी जैसे ही कुछ पत्थरनुमा दिखा उसका हाथ हार्न पर चला जाता है। आखिर ये हार्न किसलिये? क्या यह अभिवादन का तरीका है? या आप अटैंडेंस लगवाना चाहते है कि मै गुजर रहा हूँ सामने से, आगे ध्यान रखियेगा। आखिर क्यो बजाया जाता है हार्न? मेरे इस प्रश्न से ड्रायवर झेप जाता है। मै भी ज्यादा जोर नही देता प्रश्नो पर। गाडी उसे ही चलानी है फिर उसे नाराज करके आफत क्यो मोल लेना भला। पर इस हार्न के शोर से बहुतो को तकलीफ होती है। मन्दिर के अन्दर बैठे साधक हार्न से परेशान रहते है। पूजास्थलो के आस-पास रहने वाले बिना-वजह रात-भर इस शोर को सुनते है। कोई बीमार हो या घर मे छोटा बच्चा हो तो यह मुसीबत और भारी लगने लगती है। इस शोर से वन्यजीवो विशेषकर चिडियो पर विपरीत प्रभाव पडता है। हमारे एक मित्र कहते है कि अभी तो फिर भी यह शोर कम है। अब नैनो का जमाना आने वाला है, तब देखना कैसा शोर होता है? पूजास्थलो के सामने हार्न बजाना निज आस्था हो सकती है पर चूँकि इससे बहुत से लोगो को नुकसान हो रहा है इसलिये इस पर अंकुश लगाने की पहल की जानी चाहिये।
शहरो मे कौवो की तेजी से कम होती संख्या पर्यावरणविदो को परेशान किये हुये है। कौआ महानगरो का प्रकृति प्रदत्त सफाई कर्मचारी है। जिस तरह से हम अपने शहरो को गन्दा कर रहे है, अब यह जरुरी हो गया है कि कौवे हमारे आस-पास रहे और अपनी भूमिका निभाये। यह बात मुझे आज तक समझ नही आयी कि प्राचीन समय से लेकर अभी तक बाल-साहित्यो मे कौवे जैसे जीवो को विलेन के रुप मे क्यो प्रस्तुत किया जाता रहा है? इस जगत मे सभी जीवो का महत्व है। सभी के प्रति समान भाव रखने की जरुरत है। फिर क्यो बच्चो को जीव विशेष के विषय मे उल्टी-सीधी और मनगढंत बात बतायी जाती है? क्या हमारे लेखको के पास जानकारी का अभाव है या वे जानबूझकर ऐसे साहित्यो की रचना कर रहे है?
पिछले दिनो मे एक स्कूल मै कौवे के जीवन के विषय मे चित्रो के माध्यम से बच्चो को बता रहा था। उन्हे तो छोडिये उनके प्राचार्य और अन्य गुरुजनो को भी यह विश्वास नही था कि कौवा इतनी अधिक सेवा करता है प्रकृति की। वे तो उसके खलनायक वाली छवि को ही जानते रहे थे। एक गुरुजन ने खडे होकर पूछा कि क्या यह सच है कि कौवे सिर्फ एक जगह जाकर ही मरते है और वह जगह है मौत की घाटी (वैली आफ डेथ)। स्कूल मे इंटरनेट था और बच्चे इसका प्रयोग करते थे फिर भी मास्टर जी के इस प्रश्न को सुनकर मुझे एकाएक विश्वास नही हुआ कि कौवे की मौत के बारे मे उनकी ऐसी धारणा होगी। मैने उन्हे समझाया कि जैसे अन्य जीव मरते है वैसे ही कौवो की भी मौत होती है। फिर एक दिन जब मुझे कीटनाशको के कारण पास के गाँव मे कुछ कौवो के मरने की खबर मिली तो मै मास्टर जी को भी साथ ले गया। उन्होने मरे हुये कौवो को देखा और समझ गये है कि जहाँ मनुष्य़ है इन जैसे जीवो के लिये मौत की घाटी भी वही है। कीटनाशको से राष्ट्रीय पक्षी मोर के मरने की खबरे लगातार अखबारो मे आती रहती है। मोर के पंखो से जुडा हमारा प्रेम और अन्ध-विश्वास इस पक्षी के लिये अभिशाप बन गया है। इसे पवित्र होने का दर्जा क्या मिला हर कार्य के लिये इसके प्रयोग की होड सी लग गयी है। मैने मोर के पंखो के आधुनिक समाज द्वारा किये जा रहे उपयोगो की सूची बनायी तो दंग रह गया। पूजा से लेकर घरो की शोभा बढाने और विभिन्न उत्सवो मे पंखो का दिलखोलकर उपयोग हो रहा है। यहाँ तक कि बच्चे इसे अपनी किताबो के बीच मे रखना भी पसन्द कर रहे है इस आस मे कि इससे ज्ञान बढेगा। यह राष्ट्रीय पक्षी है, यह हम सब जानते है। यह हमे पढाया गया है। पर यह नही बताया गया है कि यह संरक्षण का मोहताज है और इसके पंखो से जुडा हमारा अन्ध-विश्वास इनके लिये जानलेवा बन गया है। मोर के शिकार पर पाबन्दी है पर फिर भी जिस सहजता से यह सर्वसुलभ है इसे देखकर यह तो स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि अपने आप झडने वाले पंख बाजार मे नही है। पता नही रोज कितने मोर हमारे अन्ध-विश्वास की बलि चढ रहे है। (क्रमश:)
