अन्ध-विश्वास के साथ मेरी जंग : कुछ अनुभव -3

वनस्पतियो पर विशेष रुचि होने के कारण इससे जुडे अन्ध-विश्वासो का अध्ययन कर फिर समाधान ढूढने मे मेरी रुचि रही है। कुछ समय पूर्व मै छत्तीसगढ राज्य के घटारानी क्षेत्र से गुजर रहा था। रास्ते मे कुछ पर्यटको की गाडियाँ जंगल के अन्दर देखकर मुझे संशय हुआ। मेरे ड्रायवर ने कहा कि हो सकता है खाना खाने वे अन्दर गये हो। मैने गाडी जंगल की ओर ले जाने को कहा। पास जाकर देखा तो बहुत से लोगो को तेन्दु के पेडो के ऊपर पाया। लगता था कि वे किसी चीज की तलाश कर रहे है। ध्यान से देखने पर पता चला कि वे आर्किड एकत्र कर रहे थे। वांडा प्रजाति के ये आर्किड तेन्दु जैसे पेडो पर ही उगते है। ये जमीन पर नही उगते। इनके फूल बहुत ही आकर्षक होते है और इनसे सुगन्ध भी आती है। मैने उनसे पूछा कि इस आर्किड को इतनी अधिक संख्या मे क्यो एकत्र कर रहे है? तो उनमे से एक ने जानकारी दी कि इसे तिजोरी मे रखने से धन मे बढोतरी होती है। उसकी बात काटते हुये दूसरे ने कहा कि चावल और हल्दी के साथ रखने से तो गरीब भी रातोरात अमीर हो सकता है। मैने पूछा, कहाँ से मिली यह जानकारी? तो उनका जवाब था कि एक तांत्रिक से। कोई प्रमाण कि ये असरकारक ही होगा? उनके पास जवाब नही था।
मैने उन्हे अपना परिचय दिया। कुछ लोगो ने मुझे पहचान लिया। मैने उनसे आर्किड लिया और फिर उसके बारे मे बताना आरम्भ किया। उन्हे एक पतली सी चाँदी के रंग की जड दिखायी जिससे पेड पर उगकर यह आस-पास के वातावरण से नमी खीच लेता है और इस तरह अपनी जल सम्बन्धी आवश्यकत्ता को पूरी करता है। जंगलो मे इसकी उपस्थिति वातावरण की शुद्धता का परिचायक है। जरा भी प्रदूषण फैला तो इनकी मृत्यु होने लगती है। इस पर नाना प्रकार के छोटे-बडे जीव आश्रित रहते है। इसे इसके प्राकृतिक आवास से अलग कर इसकी लाश तिजोरी मे रखने से धन मे बढोतरी होना कही से सम्भव नही है। विश्वास नही तो एक छोटा सा टुकडा ले जाकर आजमा लीजिये। पर इस टुकडे के लिये भी आपको कीमत चुकानी चाहिये। आप जितने ज्यादा लोगो को यह बता सके कि इस बात मे कोई दम नही है उतने ही प्रभावी ढंग से इसे जंगलो मे बचाया जा सकेगा। आज वनो का विनाश जारी है। पेडो को काटते वक्त उनके ऊपर उग रहे आर्किड की किसी को परवाह नही होती। अनुमति पेड काटने की मिलती है पर अनुमति देने वाले को यह आभास नही रहता कि एक पेड की कटाई उस पर आश्रित असंख्य छोटे-बडे जीवो का विनाश है। मेरी बातो को सुनकर उन्हे अपनी इस हरकत पर पछतावा होता दिखा। उन्होने मुझे धन्यवाद दिया और मैने आगे की राह पकडी।
यह एक सामान्य घटना है और जंगलो से गुजरते हुये आप इसे अक्सर देख्नेगे। आप आखिर कितने लोगो को इस तरह समझा पायेंगे? कुछ तो आपका माखौल उडा देंगे और कुछ आपको धमकाने से भी परहेज नही करेंगे। यह विडम्बना ही है कि आज हमारे अखबार अमेजान के जंगलो मे विलुप्त हो रही वनस्पतियो पर तो चिंता जताने वाले लेख प्रमुखता से प्रकाशित करते है पर आस-पास से खत्म की जा रही दुर्लभ वनस्पतियो की सुध तक नही लेते है।
फुटपाथ मे आपको ढेरो ऐसी किताबे मिल जायेंगी जो कपोल-कल्पित बातो से भरी पडी है। नाना प्रकार के चमत्कारो की बात उसमे लिखी रहती है और शार्टकट से सफलता पाने के चक्कर मे आम आदमी चमत्कारी जडी-बूटियो की तलाश मे आस-पास की वनस्पतियो के अस्तित्व पर संकट पैदा कर देता है। हम तो थोडी सी वनस्पति ले जा रहे है? भला इससे इतने विशाल जंगल को क्या फर्क पडेगा? ऐसे तर्क आमतौर पर सुनने को मिल जाते है। हम एक अरब से अधिक हो चुके है। जंगलो पर बढती मानव आबादी का प्रभाव स्पष्ट है। सभी थोडी मात्रा मे ही वनस्पतियो का विनाश करेंगे तो भी यह जंगल बहुत कम समय मे समाप्त हो जायेंगे। यह बात अब अच्छे से समझ लेनी होगी।
अन्ध-विश्वास और विश्वास के बीच पतली सी लकीर होती है। हमे अक्सर ही आम लोगो के विष बुझे तीरो का सामना करना पडता है। बहुत बार हमे नास्तिक मान लिया जाता है। धर्म विरोधी भी कहा जाता है। लोग हमारे घरो के सामने आम की पत्तियो का तोरण देखकर प्रश्न करते है कि ये आपने क्यो लगाया? क्या यह अन्ध-विश्वास नही है? हम उन्हे जब यह कहते है कि यह तो निज आस्था है। हम निज आस्था के खिलाफ नही है पर यदि कोई इस आस्था से लाभ उठाकर भयादोहन करे और लोगो को ठगे तो यह गलत है, तो लोग इससे सहमत नही होते और बिना किसी देर के हमारी समिति के प्रमुख के उस बयान का हवाला देते है जिसमे वे हरेली के दिन घरो के सामने नीम की डाल लगाने को अन्ध-विश्वास कहते है। लोग कहते है कि नीम की डाल लगाना निज आस्था है तो फिर क्यो इसे अन्ध-विश्वास कहा जा रहा है? इसमे तो किसी प्रकार की ठगी नही है। न ही भयादोहन किया जा रहा है। हम निरुत्तर हो जाते है। भले ही हम समिति के अंदर फूट के डर के चलते इन विषयो पर खुलकर चर्चा नही करते पर इससे हर सदस्य को ऐसे प्रश्नो का सामना करना पडता है। इस बात पर मै आम लोगो की निज आस्था से सहमत होता हूँ और अपनी गल्ती स्वीकार लेता हूँ।
रोजगार की तलाश मे आस-पास के गाँवो और दूरस्थ अंचलो से भी बहुत से लोग शहर आते है। वे जडी-बूटियो की दुकान लगाकर बैठ जाते है। तरह-तरह के दावे करते है। हमने अपने अभियानो के माध्यम से इन्हे कई बार पकडा है और पुलिस के हवाले किया है। पर हर बार मन के पीछे यही सवाल उठता रहा कि कही हम गलत तो नही कर रहे है? क्या किसी गरीब की रोजी-रोटी छीनना ठीक है? मन मे यह सवाल भी आता है कि वनस्पति के विषय मे सबसे ज्यादा भ्रम तो शहर मे बैठे वास्तुविद फैला रहे है। लोगो के डर का लाभ उठाकर मन मर्जी से किसी भी पौधे को उखाडकर मनचाहे पौधे लगवा रहे है। किसी को झगडा करवाने वाला पौधा बता रहे है तो किसी को धन मे कमी करने वाला। ढेरो कमा रहे है और नयी पीढी मे खुल्लमखुल्ला अन्ध-विश्वास फैला रहे है। हम समिति की ओर से कभी इन पर हाथ नही डाल पाये क्योकि हम सभी को खबर है उनकी पहुँच की। उनके संगठन की। हमने जरा भी आवाज उठायी तो लेने के देने पड जायेंगे। इसलिये हमारे अभियान उन गरीबो पर केन्द्रित रहे जिनका कोई सहारा नही है। पुलिस के पास पहुँचने पर कोई मददगार नही है। एक दिन एक को पकडवाकर हम उसके पीछे कितने बेकसूर लोगो से निवाला छिन रहे है-इस बात का हमे अन्दाज भी नही है। मुझे लगता है कि सबके लिये नियम समान होने चाहिये। यह कठिन है पर यदि हम अपने नाम के लिये ऐसा भेदभाव करे तो हमारा मन कभी हमे माफ नही करेगा। (क्रमश:)
